Click to know role of E-selectin in cancer related problems!

There are a number of adhesion molecules in human body that play a role in inflammation of certain internal parts or organs of the body. Most importantly, they are bioreactors for a number of physical conditions as well. Quite similarly, E-selectin, which is synonymous with endothelial-leukocyte adhesion molecule 1, is a molecule that helps in adhesion of cells, and these are specifically expressed within the cytokine activated endothelial cells. Encoded within SELE gene, this has an important role to play in gene regulation.

How can this E-selectin molecule be used?

This molecule reacts when placed against inflammatory cytokine treatment. As per recent studies conducted on mouse, E-selectin deficient mice have a defect in regards to rolling of leucocytes, and participate in firm adhesion. Thus, with Mouse E-selectin (SELE) ELISA Kitfurther test results are to be performed.

This protein is specifically responsible for agglomeration of blood leucocytes against vascular lining. Its structural features include presence of lectin, and EGF type domains. These proteins are specifically part of selectin family, which prioritize cell adhesion molecules. Most importantly, cancer cells can penetrate the human body with help of this selectins. Also, circulating tumour cells, require adhesive interactions, and this binding specificity helps in cancer metastasis and selectivity of organs.
